For each child's birthday celebration at school we invite family to join us at the end of the day from about 2:15 to 2:45. You are welcome to bring a nut and banana free birthday snack (as healthy as possible, but hey, cupcakes are delicious.) that is individual sized. Muffins, cupcakes, cookies, etc rather than a cake that needs to be sliced, for example. You are also invited to bring in a special story to read or have a teacher read to the class while we set up the snack. We will be passing around a special "birthday stone" which your child will select from a special box that we keep in Laurel Creek. They will then give the stone over to be passed around the circle and filled with warm birthday wishes as each child holds the stone in their hands and makes a silent birthday wish for the celebrating child. Then we sing, and blow out the candle which we have in class. At this time snack is set up and the birthday boy or girl will call people to go find a seat. Everyone waits to eat until the celebrator has taken their first bite. Then if we have time after we go outside and play until it is time for our afternoon meeting. Hope this gives you more than enough of a glimpse into the birthday celebrating in Laurel Creek.
