Week of October 22

October 22-26

We are now eight weeks in; hard to believe.  Writer's Workshop is in full swing and many of the beginning of the year routines have become automatic.  Next week we will begin regrouping for Math with Blackberry Creek once a week.

We hope to see you all on Halloween!

---------------------------

The Week always begins with weekend news.

Julianne arrives at 9:00 for Monday morning Art.  This week the children created Halloween scenes with conté crayons and also added a pop-up element, which required some real fine motor dexterity.

Reader's Workshop
Here The Ice Eagles are working on one of the trickier digraphs, wh.

Cloud gazing with Kate Klaire

We got several rounds of  Little  ______ Walker in this week.

Math Workshop
We have been exploring all the combinations of two numbers that can be combined to make ten.

In this activity someone covers some of the ten pom pom balls with a cup while the rest remain in view.  The other participants are asked to quickly determine how many are under the cup.

Academic Choice

Sound Hunts
Children scour the room for letters and letter combinations.

Digraph posters
Here we are creating posters that showcase four of the digraphs: sh, ch, th, wh
